What areas do you serve?
We serve the Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line — including Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Lee’s Summit, Independence, Lenexa, Blue Springs, Liberty and the surrounding communities in Missouri and Kansas. Not sure if you’re in range? Just give us a call.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. HDJ Construction is fully licensed and insured, and every project is permitted and built to code. You’re protected from day one.
Is HDJ locally owned?
We are — HDJ is locally owned and operated, led by Hector and Johanna. The people who give you the estimate are the same people who see the work through to the final walkthrough.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Every estimate is free and carries no obligation, and we typically reply within one business day.

What it costs
How much will my project cost?
It depends on the scope, materials and size of the job. After a free consultation we provide a clear, written, itemized estimate so you know exactly what you’re paying for — no guesswork.
Are your estimates really free?
Yes — completely free and no obligation. We’d rather earn your trust with an honest assessment than pressure you into anything.
How do you handle pricing changes?
Any change to the scope is discussed with you and approved in writing through a change order before the work proceeds. No surprise charges at the end.
Do you offer financing?
Financing options vary by project. Ask us during your free estimate and we’ll point you toward the options that fit.

How projects run
How do we get started?
The easiest way is to request a free estimate online or call or text us. We’ll schedule a consultation, listen to your goals, and walk you through next steps.
How long will my project take?
It varies by job — a window install is often 1–3 days, a deck typically 1–2 weeks, and remodels run longer depending on scope. You’ll get a realistic timeline in your written estimate.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. We manage the permitting process and build to code so your project is safe, inspected and done right.
Will you keep the job site clean?
Always. We respect your home and keep a clean, safe job site every day, with a full cleanup when the work is done.

Service-specific questions
Windows — do new windows really lower energy bills?
Yes. Sealing out drafts and upgrading to insulated Low-E glass measurably reduces heating and cooling loss, especially in older KC homes.
Siding — repair or full replacement?
If damage is isolated, a repair may be enough. Widespread fading, warping or moisture usually makes a full re-side the better long-term value. We’ll give you an honest assessment.
Decks — wood or composite?
Wood costs less up front; composite costs more but needs almost no maintenance and lasts longer. We’ll walk you through the trade-offs for your budget.
Remodeling — can we stay in our home during the work?
In most cases, yes. We set clear expectations about timelines and which areas are affected, and keep the site clean and safe.
Roofing — can you help with my insurance claim?
Yes. After storm or hail damage we document everything thoroughly and work alongside you and your adjuster to make the claims process smoother.
